Villarreal president Roig aware of Villa Baena interest

Villarreal president Fernando Roig insists they have no intention of selling Alex Baena.

The 22-year-old has signed a new deal recently, keeping him as a Yellow Submarine until 2028.

However, he does have a 60 million buyout clause that Premier League clubs may be willing to trigger.

"Baena is a player for Villarreal in the coming years, we are betting heavily on Baena," Roig told AS.

"I think that in the coming seasons he will still grow and be a better player. Baena is a great player."

On interest from teams like Aston Villa, he added: "We do not talk about hypotheses or the future, we are not in that right now. The important thing is that Baena is a player who has grown a lot at Villarreal, and my intention is for him to continue growing here.

"Although I always say that there are three parts, and that if all three parts agree, it can always be closed. But right now it is not an issue we are working on."
